Q38 - Jumuah salat during Covid. is it worth the effort knowing you may not get space in Masjid?


Question # 038

With new covid restrictions and limited space for jummuah, must we still make all effort to make it in time or can we give up trying all together knowing we most likely wont have space? we often have to take out time from work and dont even get to join the salaah.

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allah (swt) reward you for your concern. Jummah Salaah is Fardh (necessary). It would be impermissible to drop the jummah salaah without a valid reason. Work would not be considered a valid reason to drop the jummah salaah. (Please refer to the following:

Therefore, efforts must be made to perform the jummah prayer. One may make the necessary arrangements to pray the jummah salaah at work etc. If making arrangements at work, it would be required that there are 4 adult males, 2 sermons, and the prayer is 2 rakaats after zawaal (zenith).
