Q27 - I have an issue with waswas for years now and most is in control alhamdulillah but now I have

Question # 027

Question: Salam Imam, I have an issue with waswas for years now and most is in control alhamdulillah but now I have a new issue and that’s with halal haram jobs sometimes I do something I feel like I’m stealing or cheating. Or I over exaggerate in a ruling. Same issue with halal haram transactions. Should I ignore this? How will I know if my earnings/transactions are haram? Is there a way to contact you so I can discuss this further? Thank you

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allah (swt) reward you for reaching out and your concern. Ameen.

Firstly, the Ulamah (Scholars) have suggested some ways to remove waswasas such as, seeking refuge from Shaitaan, to turn away from what may cause waswasas/places that cause waswasas, engaging in dhikr (remembrance of Allah, and reciting the kalimah.

It's important to remember that waswasas that occur, as long as you have not intentionally brought them, and do not act upon them, then they will be forgiven (by the permission of Allah).

Occasionally, the more worry and stress regarding these wasawis, only result in the wasawis reoccurring. Therefore, busy yourself with other thoughts and dhikr, and worry less regarding these baseless misgivings. Avoid actions that lead to more baseless misgivings such as: watching inappropriate videos, looking at immoral photos, trying to understand Islamic rulings only through a logical standpoint without a reliable teacher, washing the same part of the body in wudhu more than thrice, etc.

However, in regards to your work being permissible, this would require a specific ruling based on the work and company. If you wish to contact Maulana Kasim Ingar (Hafidhahullah), please call the masjid, 416-750-2253.

Sadaqah is a means of purifying wealth, so if possible, give sadaqah.

Please reach out again, or set up a call with a mufti or your local imam, to further clarify the rulings regarding your work.

May Allah (Swt) grant you halal rizq and protect you from Shaitaan.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
