Assalamualikum Imam Saab, My question for you is... "is true love allowed in islam? Can we, muslims believe in true love?" Jazakallah

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.
 

The exact definition regarding true love is unclear. However, it is necessary to have true love for our Creator, Allah (swt). True love for people, would be permissible or encouraged for parents, children, spouses, or any other mahram. For other non-mahrams, it would be permissible to be sympathetic to their adversities and pray for their wellbeing. However, there is no true love in an illicit haram relationship. True love cannot exist in disobeying Allah.
